What's The Deal With WooCommerce and Plugins?
WooCommerce, the most popular eCommerce platform for WordPress, is easy enough for even non-developers to set up and start selling online quickly and easily. However, while WooCommerce comes with all the basics to sell online immediately, there's a number of plugins available that will make your life a good bit easier by extending the basic funtionality of your store.

We've been there, done that, and in this post, we've sorted the top ten WooCommerce "cream of the crop" plugins from the riff-raff and wanna-be's. (You're welcome.) All the plugins listed here are Free, but most have premium versions you'll need to purchase, to get the full benefit from them.
So without further ado: Our Top Ten plugins that every Woo-powered eCommerce store needs!

1. Google Analytics by Lara
Your WooCommerce store needs analytics in order to track important store metrics, such as traffic sources, pages visited, and time spent on the website. (Note: Not to be confused with the WooCommerce plugin's built-in analytics dashboard, that only shows store metrics such as sales and order stats.)
The Google Analytics by Lara plugin is an extremely simple way to quickly add Google Analytics code to all your pages and includes a full-width dashboard widget to see all the important metrics at a glance, right on your website.
The free version includes full access to seven different sessions metrics:
- Sessions
- Users
- Page views
- % New Sessions
- Bounce Rate
- Avg. Session Duration
- Page views/Session
In addition, there are six other tabs, each with additional metrics. They are:
- Pages Visited
- Browsers Used
- Languages Spoken
- Operating Systems Used
- Screen Resolution Used
- Device Types Used
The premium version is extremely affordable and offers an additional set of even more advanced metric options:
- Multisite Installation w/ Permissions Control
- Check Metrics For Any Date Range
- Real Time Active Users
- Countries w/ Most Visitors
- Keywords (Google Search Console Integration)
- Traffic Sources
With WooCommerce installed, you will also get a simple graph showing your store orders stats, while the premium version allows for a more customized eCommerce graph.
Setup is as easy as setting up a free Google Analytics account, then following the setup wizard inside the plugin to add the Analytics code to all your pages and start collecting data.
Our final takeaway: The Google Analytics by Lara plugin is a powerful enough solution for the average user, without the techy, time consuming setup or cost associated with more advanced integrations.

The free version has all the most common customizations, and is all thats needed for the average user. It can be paired with the Advanced Custom Fields plugin (see below) to easily display custom fields anywhere inside your WooCommerce product loop.
To unlock the advanced settings, you'll need to purchase the very affordable Booster Plus plugin, which unlocks all the modules to their fullest extent.

3. Beeketing For WooCommerce
Beeketing is to conversions what Booster is for the technical setup. However, instead of an integrated plugin, it is cloud-based service. Its purpose is to maximize conversions on your WooCommerce store.
To use the service, you'll need to download the plugin for your WooCommerce store, create an account with the service, then install the indvidual apps you want for your store.
There are 10+ apps available for WooCommerce including:
- Countdown Cart
- "Sales Pop" Widget
- Sales Boost w/ Cross-sells & Upsells
- Incentivised Checkout Boost
- "Recommended For You" Product Sliders

4. Kadence WooCommerce Email Designer
What to do if you're a non-coder wanting to change the default WooCommerce emails to match your brand and colors?
With Kadence WooCommerce Email Designer, you can!
Using the default WordPress Customizer dashboard, you can set exactly how your store emails look, and what they should say. You can also choose from several different pre-built templates, or build your own using the intuitive Customizer controls.
Key tools inside this plugin include:
- Customize Emails To Match Your Brand Colors, Fonts, Logo & More
- Live Preview & Test Send
- Customize The Default Text To Match Your Style
- Import/Export Prebuilt Templates
This plugin is completely free - There's no premium version. It can also be used alongside other custom store email notifications - the emails will inherit the templates designed inside the Kadence plugin.

5. YITH WooCommerce Quickview
Allow your customers to quickly view a product summary without leaving the page! This conversion-boosting tactic helps your store visitors quickly find, compare, and purchase from your listings.
Yith WooCommerce Quickview is an extremly easy to use solution. It adds a "Quick View" button to all your product archive listings with just a couple clicks.
The free version is fairly basic. The "quick view" button opens up a prebuilt light box that shows the main product image, price, short description and cart button.
The premium version adds a good bit of functionality and customizabilty such as:
- Product Image Lightbox
- Choose Popup Styles
- Choose Button Or Icon For Quick View
- Customize Elements That Show In Quick View
- And Much More
It's definently worth getting the premium version if you have a large store with many products and variations to look through, or simply want the advanced capabilities.
However, for many smaller eCommerce stores, the free version will suffice just fine.

6. Facebook For WooCommerce
WooCoomerce now gives the choice to install this plugin during the initial setup process at installation.
The official Facebook plugin for WooCommerce, this plugin is what you'll need to integrate and market your store with your business Facebook page.
It's completely free to use, but you'll pay to run ads on Facebook.
It's key features include:
- Setup the Facebook Pixel on your site
- Display your products and allow purchases right from your Facebook page
- Create and manage Facebook ads right from your website
- Easily add a Facebook messenger button to your website
- Choose products to display on your Facebook page by category or product
To use, you'll need to have a Facebook business page, Ad Account, and Pixel setup. Integration with your website is very easy. Input your information into the setup wizard, and the plugin handles the technical setup on the background.

7. WooCommerce Upsell Popup
This simple utility adds a custom Add-to-Cart cross-sell or upsell product popup to any product on your store.
For instance, if someone adds a shirt to their cart, a one-time popup will appear with a related product, such as a pair of pants to pair with the shirt.
There are several plugins that will provide a similar function, or you can opt to have the upsell or cross-sell products show only the cart or directly after checkout with services such as the Beeketing For WooCommerce plugin above.
However, I chose the WooCommerce Upsell Popup plugin due to its simplicity, and quick setup.
In the free version, you can set the default popup to show on a global, category, or per product level. There will be a new field in the product editor where you can set the product to show in the popup, as well as the behaviour of the Yes/No buttons inside the popup.
The Pro version is very affordable, and recommended. It unlocks a variety of customization features such as:
- Ability to upsell more than one product
- Custom text
- Variety of templates to choose from
- Add as many separate popups as needed
- And more
This plugin won't be for everyone, but for those looking for the ability to upsell or cross-sell before the cart, this is a great option.

8. YITH WooCommerce Wishlist
No "Top-Ten WooCommerce Plugins" list would be complete without this powerful tool. Thanks to YITH WooCommerce Wishlist, your users can, in the words of the YITH team:
- Save their favourite products, find them quickly and easily at a later time and buy them.
- Share the wishlist with relatives and friends for Christmas, birthdays and similar occasions so they can buy them one of the products from the list.
- Share the wishlist on social networks and get indirect advertising for your store.
This helps you’ll create a loyal customer base, and incentivize them to buy, plus you'll be attracting new customers any time a wishlist is shared.
The YITH Wishlist is highly customizable and user friendly right out of the box.
There are lots of customizability options and features in the free version, or invest in the Premium version to unlock its full potential.
The premium version isn't cheap, but is well worth the investment for advanced users and larger stores.

9. Advanced Custom Fields
Why do I need Advanced Custom Fields for my WooCommerce store?
I'll be the first to say - For many users, You don't!
But lets say you want to have a date picker field inside the Woo product editor. Instead of buying an expensive plugin to do the job, you can easily create the custom field with ACF, display it in your product editor, then show the date on the front end product loop via the Booster plugin, or by using the built-in ACF functions.
Yes, thats just one real example of the power of this versatile little plugin.
There is a learning curve to be sure. ACF helps remedy the problem with a comprehensive collection of support articles and videos.
Custom fields you can create and display anywhere in your WordPress site include:
- Date Picker
- Color Picker
- Check Boxes
- True/False Button
- Embedded Content
- Text Area
- And many more
To display the custom fields on the front-end you will need to add the coorosponding PHP functions in your theme's PHP function files, or use in conjuction with other plugins such as Booster For WooCommerce to add it anywhere on the WooCommerce product loop.
Don't be afraid to ask us if you need help getting it set up.

10. Email Inquiry & Cart Options for WooCommerce
Email Inquiry & Cart Options is a simple plugin that adds a powerful feature to any store: the ability to add an Enquiry button to any product across your store, and the ability to show/hide price and Add-to-Cart buttons depending on rules you define.
For example, suppose you want to prevent anyone from buying a certain product on your store, except logged-in users. With this plugin, that's possible with a few clicks.
Now say you'd like to show an Email Inquiry button instead of the Add to Cart. This is your ticket.
The enquiry button can be entirely customized to match your theme and colors, and you can edit the message that gets sent, who it is sent to, and whether the sender receives an auto-response email.
For advanced users, the premium version integrates natively with Gravity Forms and Contact Form 7, and adds a global enquiry form, and the possibility to add separate forms for individual products.
